TERM 2 PROJECTS

Children 4 Children Project

Under the oversight of our Soul Buddyz Club, our school has decided to join in with the Children to Children Initiative run by NAPTOSA, one of the teachers’ unions. The initiative consists of the participating schools linking with a charity in order to reach out and assist them. The organisation to which we are linked is SIBONGILE DAY/NIGHT CARE CENTRE, situated in Khayelitsha.

This registered NPO provides quality care for children with Cerebral Palsy as well as other disabilities. Each school has been asked to collect certain items during May for distribution to the organisations  and these collections will be handed over at a special function on the 5th June. NKGAHLISENG RAMOLLO  and NATANIAH BESTER from Soul Buddyz, together with Mrs Nkosi, represented our school at the first function held on Monday 25 April.

Our school is collecting:

          NEW FACE CLOTHS

Please support this outreach by purchasing a face cloth when you next do your shopping and sending it to school.

TERM 1 PROJECTS

Woodbridge has a HEART for children with cancer

At Woodbridge we are "CHOC"ful of compassion and care!! Why do we say this? Well, by now you should be aware that we have been raising our awareness of the issue of childhood cancer, through a partnership with CHOC (the Childhood Cancer Foundation). Under the banner of our  Soul Buddyz Club (facilitated by Mrs Nkosi, our Deputy), various initiatives and activities took place over the past couple of weeks:

Each grade collected different toiletry items to be used in the CHOC houses (homes away from homes for patients and their families who come from upcountry to Cape Town for treatment).  An extra R5.00 was added to our civvies day cost which has been donated to CHOC Badges and chocolates were ordered by pupils, the proceeds of which go to CHOC

We were visited by the Western Cape & Namakwa Regional Manager of CHOC, Ms Lynette Muthuray, at our Assembly on Friday 12 February and she spoke to the children about childhood cancer and what CHOC does.  She brought along two special friends of children with cancer, Thandi and Chemo.

On Monday our children hung beautiful hearts which they had made, in the trees along the front of the school. The idea was to show that Woodbridge has a "HEART" for cancer- sufferers. Hopefully, you have seen these hearts- in-the-trees!

Finally, we gathered all the pupils and staff on the field at 12:00 on Monday and formed a heart shape. Representatives of CHOC were here and photographs were taken.

Apart from the awareness and compassion generated, we were able to hand over the sum of R 6 915.00 to CHOC, as well as all the toiletries which were collected.

WELL DONE and THANK YOU to all our pupils, parents and staff for a wonderful response to the Super Soul Buddyz initiative!!

Our school drummie squad opened the proceedings by performing a lovely routine.

Such a beautiful view of Table Mountain from our school field,     it surely helped the runners to get to the finishing line.
